The Brazilian crane market grew X% to $X in 2020, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, however, consumption has shown a relatively flat trend pattern. During the period under review, the market peaked at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, consumption was at a lower level.

In value terms, the production of cranes in 2020 is estimated at X dollars at export prices. However, there was a slight increase in production during the period under review. The growth rate was most pronounced in 2008, with an X% increase over the previous year. Crane production peaked at $X in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, production failed to regain momentum.


Brazil Crane Export Scale
Crane exports from Brazil fell sharply to X units in 2020, down -X% from 2019 figures. Overall, however, there has been a significant increase in exports. The most significant growth rate occurred in 2008, with an X% year-on-year increase. During the period under review, exports peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, exports were slightly lower.

The United Arab Emirates, Austria, JapanPeru, Uruguay, Mexico, Paraguay, Indonesia, the Netherlands and Malaysia were a little behind, adding a further X between 2007 and 2020, with the largest increase being Austria (+X% per year), Shipments from other leaders grew more modestly.

The largest markets for Brazilian crane exports by value are Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Austria ($X), which together account for X% of total exports. Among the major destination countries, Austria (+X% per annum) experienced the highest growth in export value during the period under review, while the other leading countries experienced more moderate growth in shipments.
Brazil Crane Import Scale
In 2020, cranes and mobile cranes purchased abroad increased by X% to X units, increasing for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Imports continued to grow significantly during the period under review. During the period under review, imports reached an all-time high of X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, imports decreased slightly.

Crane imports surged to $X in 2020 by value. Overall, there was a marked decline in imports. During the period under review, imports reached a record $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2020, China (X units) was the largest crane supplier to Brazil, accounting for X% of total imports. In addition, the number of cranes imported from China exceeded the number recorded by the second largest supplier Belgium (X units) by more than ten times. Sweden (X units) occupies the third position in the ranking with an X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of Chinese exports reached +X%. The average annual growth rates of imports in the remaining supplier countries are as follows: Belgium (+X% per annum) and Sweden (+X% per annum). China (USD X) is Brazil’s largest crane supplier by value, accounting for X% of total imports. In second place is Germany ($X) with X% of total imports. It is followed by Belgium with an X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +X%. The average annual growth rates of imports for the remaining supplier countries are as follows: Germany (-X% per annum) and Belgium (+X% per annum).
Statistics of various crane suppliers in Brazil
China is Brazil’s largest supplier of cranes by value, accounting for 58% of total imports. In second place was Germany, which accounted for 19% of total imports. It is followed by Belgium with a share of 4.7%.

The largest markets for Brazilian crane exports by value are Chile, Argentina and Austria, which together account for 44% of the total export value.

In 2020, the average export price of cranes was US$19,659 per unit, an increase of 30% over the previous year.

The average price of crane imports in 2020 was $4,974 per unit, down -35.7% from the previous year.
