Is fertilizer subsidy on Urea and DAP ever going to end in India?

We are having to adopt drip irrigation to save water and government is taking steps towards pushing drip irrigation, but the fertilizer for drip aint subsidized. 25 Kgs of water soluble fertilizer (ones used in drip) cost 2500, that is 1 Kg – 100 RS, but DAP and MOP are available at ~25 Rs per Kilo…

Government has to rethink their strategy, Its like they are punishing the farmers who are turning to drip technology.

No definitely not.Investment on Input subsidies has been important part of budget, to make available the inputs to farmers at affordable prices  . But yes simultaneously it is creating pressure on higher investment specially on development of infrastructure, thus subsidies may prove unsustainable in the long run.
